Perfection - Can It Be Achieved?

Achieving perfection

One of the problems in our society is the desperate need to achieve perfection. Some want to look impeccable, others want straight As or you just simply want something to turn out exactly how you imagine. I am here to uncover the truth in whether perfection can actually be achieved or not.

Amassing pressure

Social media, friends , family, teachers, workplaces. They’re all so different but so much more alike than you think. Do you know why? It is because they all want something from you. They all want you to achieve their strict standards, dome harder than the other. But what happens when, no matter how hard you try, you just can’t be perfect in their blinded eyes? You break.

Ideals and opinions

People live to judge you regarding every single aspect of your life. Once they have their eyes fixed on you, there is no escaping from their cruel sight. If you get straight As, it won’t be enough, because you don’t have a lot of free time. They want you to be the smartest in the room, otherwise they will attack you. But if you reach that standard, they will say you are seeking attention. If you are pretty, they will look for any feature they could gnaw on, much alike desperate, hunger-driven vultures.

Idealized standards

“Your teeth are misshaped!”, “Blonde is too basic of a colour”, “Your eyes are distanced!”, “Broad shoulders are unattractive”, “Why are you dressed so unoriginal?”. Oh my God who actually cares about these things? Is that actually what perfection is supposed to look like? Because then I don’t want it, and neither should you. We don’t have to be a blueprint of eachother, because, shocking news! We all like different things. Maybe you don’t like blonde hair, but I do and that is perfectly alright. You don’t have to push these unachievable standards onto everyone else because the Earth does not revolve around you.

Perfection – an illusion of society

I guess my main point is that perfection does not exist, because everyone’s perception of the world is different. I think it is human nature that once a standard is achieved another one replaces it. It is a never-ending, tiring process which we do not have to endure. Yes, we should try to make ourselves better and better and achieve great things, but we should not be trying to realize perfection for it is like looking for a needle in a haystack, except the needle was never there to begin with.

Embracing yourself

Therefore we should all learn to accept and love ourselves as we come, because I promise, you look beautiful no matter what you do or don’t change about yourself. You are smart enough even if you got that B or F in Maths. You are still a good employee even if you fid not manage to finish your project in one day. The important thing is to try, it is for you to know that you did exactly what you were capable of.
